Ah, School... Finally a Break

So this week begins Spring Break... Woot! And, since my last post I've been accumulating more and more thoughts that needed to be recorded.

First, I've been wondering in which direction to take this blog to. I believe I've stated in my very first post all my interests and pretty much can discuss Beauty & Health, Fashion, Art/Design, and Cuisine. So, I think the most obvious solution is to just bring up all of these topics when I deem them appropriate or just when they come to mind. Because isn't that a purpose of blog-to let out all your ideas and opinions without too much objection...? This will be my personal place to record my thoughts and ideas.

Ah, midterms... I'm glad that they're over. It's surprising how much stress they can cause even when you're confident enough about passing them. Since I'm on the subject of classes, this will probably be the last semester of "fun" classes. After planning out the rest of my academic career at UCF, it looks like I can finish with the Information & Technology degree by Fall of 2011. If I had continued with Computer Science, it would have taken most likely another three years... That's quite a long time for someone who already have a Bachelor's degree. I still would like to get a minor in Computer Security, it definitely is relevant, and makes the perfect match for IT. I am saddened that my plan to get the Digital Media minor has yet to be sidelined again, but taking a few classes wouldn't hurt... No more modern languages though.

I'm glad I get the opportunity to go back to college, but know I'm ready for bigger and better things.  But, time to get some work finished and plan out my next post. Until then!

Introductions...

I feel like I should start off by formally introducing myself...and leave some parts a mystery, right? So then, we'll just start from the "near" beginning...

I'm a June baby-born from Filipino parents. Both of my parents are from Dagupan City, which is a part of the Pangasinan province in the Philippines. My parents came to the states when my older brother was only one-year-old.
I am the first one of my family to be born in the United States. I was born on a military base and being a military brat I've gotten used to seeing a few different places. And, I consider Kansas and California as my home states.

My dad served in the US army and retired when I was in high school. My mom studied to be a nurse, but currently works for Kansas State University (Go Wildcats!). They both have a share in the family restaurants, and they both work way too hard. I'll mention the family restaurants here shortly...

A quick overview of my childhood... I was raised in a very traditional, Filipino household. My parents were/are strict but very loving, and I couldn't have asked for better parents. They passed down all their love, knowledge, value, culture, traditions, etc... I know that they only ever wanted the best for my brother and I so that we wouldn't have to struggle as much as they did. And for all this I will be ever-most grateful.

I will definitely say that I had some of my best years so far when I attended college. I graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Apparel & Textiles with a Specialization in Marketing. Then, I also got minors in Japanese and Business Administration. I won't get into details about all my changes in my majors, but yeah, there were at least five changes...(Haha, I guess I can laugh at that now...)

I used to keep very busy working on campus, interning at a boutique in Aggieville, and also working at my family's restaurant. Chris jokes that my family has a monopoly on the Chinese food restaurants in Manhattan (Kansas), and well, I do have uncles running a stand-alone restaurant, the mall one, and then they also handle the kitchens in the two main supermarkets. It's great to know that when we head home to Manhattan, our tab is usually taken care of.

So currently, I live with my husband in Orlando, Florida (Oh, yeah-We got Disney, Universal, & Sea World!!). We relocated here after after college when he got his engineering job with LM. He fits so well with his profession. I can definitely understand why they wanted to hire him after his internship-he's so freakin' intelligent. And so, we are where we are today. My husband and I were married in 2007, we haven't officially had our honeymoon (yeah, we're working on that), we have a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Ein (yay, Cowboy Bebop), and we own property.

We work hard for all we do and I can say that we both have great parents. It feels like it's taken me forever to get to the point where I am now, as far as life in Florida. The job market here was never kind to me. So now I find myself back in college for my second degree which was originally Computer Science, and just this past week had it changed to Information Technology. I'll leave the programming to the hubby... It's probably a better fit for me, and I should still be able to find a career in this crazy world. I will definitely have a great resume to present: Multi-lingual (Tagalog, Pangasinan, Spanish, Japanese, French), then there's programming languages (C, Java-so far), the rest of my technical skills, the extra miscellaneous stuff, Minors from K-State and then my planned Digital Art Minor and Computer Security Minor. I definitely plan to succeed with LM or Disney!!

Phew! That was quite the Introduction... ah well.

Greetings

Greetings All,

My name is Rie to the online world... especially in the virtual realm-World of Warcraft, Hehe. I'm not new to the blogging world, but I'm finding more and more that I haven't changed in the fact that I alwayz have a LOT on my mind.

I would really like to use this blogspot as an outlet for all that's going on in my world-whether it be fashion, make-up, food, art, shopping, gaming, and more... Phew!

I'm looking forward to sharing my world with anyone who's interested, and it will also be great to keep a record of these adventures to look back on.

Toodles!
